Storm Safety Tips

Play it safe.  Use caution during storms.

  • We’ve put in place safeguards, but sometimes even the best preparations cannot prevent problems from occurring during severe weather.
  • A lightning strike can cause a brief moment when the power flickers off and back on as lines are re-energized.  If lightning should strike a transformer or high winds cause a tree to fall on a power line, a local crew will work to restore service as quickly as possible.
  • In the event of an outage, call us at 766-5988. If there is a downed power line that could cause harm, call 911, then the utility. Keep all people and pets away from the area.
  • Create a weather emergency kit for each family member.  Include a blanket, a flashlight and batteries, at least one gallon of water, snacks, and first-aid items.  Add a battery-operated radio and a car charger for cell phones.
