Water Department : Backflow Prevention
Cross Connection Control Program
A cross connection is a direct or a potential arrangement of drinking water piping that is or can be connected to a questionable source. An example is the common garden hose attached to a sill cock with the end of the garden hose submerged into a bucket of detergent. Other examples may be your homeís underground lawn sprinkling system or water treatment unit. Examples of commercial cross connections may be found on carbonated beverage equipment, boilers and process equipment.
In order to maintain a safe and dependable drinking water supply we sometimes need to make requirements for improvements to our customerís internal plumbing. We ask that all our customers help us protect our drinking water supply by participating in the cross connection control program and the upcoming KU efforts to increase the awareness of cross connections. Thank you for allowing Kaukauna Utilities to continue providing your family with clean and safe drinking water.
If you have any questions about the program or any concerns, please contact Kevin Obiala, KU Water Department Superintendent at 920-462-0233 or Hydro Designs, Inc. at 800-690-6651. We want our customers to be informed about their Water Department.
