Transformer Upgrade (4/12/07)

KU recently completed an upgrade at the Central Substation on Island Street. This project involved a new 138/34 KV transformer and control systems.

The largest crane KU employees have ever seen was used to lift the 150 Ton transformer and move it to the pole yard for storage. The transformer was moved during a planned outage at Central Sub. During the outage KU electricians re-wired the control room installing new relays and controls with the new Wonderware System.

This upgrade project is part of ongoing work to upgrade the infrastructure of Kaukauna Utilities, maintain excellent customer service and prepare for expansion to keep up with load demands in our growing community.
