Kaukauna Utilities General Manager Jeff Feldt has been appointed to serve as a director of the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Development (DEED) program for Region 2.
APPA is the national service organization representing the nation’s more than 2,000 community and state-owned electric utilities. DEED is APPA’s program to support the research and demonstration of promising technologies and techniques to benefit public power systems.
By action of APPA’s Board of Directors, DEED directors approve all DEED grants, joint projects, and scholarships, as well as provide general policy oversight for the program. Other directors’ responsibilities include representing one’s assigned region in any policy decision that may arise between meetings, discussing potential proposal submissions for grant and scholarship funding, supporting membership recruitment, and more.
Feldt is one of ten regional DEED directors appointed to repeatable, staggered three-year terms through a formal nomination process. Feldt represents Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin for Region 2 and his term will expire in 2013, at which point he can decide to serve a second three-year term.
Feldt has more than 28 years of experience and leadership in the electric industry. He has served as general manager of Kaukauna Utilities since 2002.
