Kaukauna Utilities brings live theatre to local students

Kaukauna Utilities (KU) is working with The National Theatre for Children (NTC) to educate and inspire students and school staff in Kaukauna and Little Chute. The program, titled “Energy Endgame,” is performed by two professional actors who lead the students through an action-packed, hi-tech adventure, all while teaching about energy efficiency, resources, and conservation.

The program delivers information on electricity to five local schools (including over 1,300 students), focusing on the following educational points:

  • What energy is
  • The uses of energy
  • How energy is wasted
  • How energy is conserved

In this 25-minute play, GameCo’s top designer whiz, Hieronyma Tru, has created a cool new video game that’s supposed to come out today – but there’s one small glitch. The company computers aren’t working, all the lights are off, and nobody can figure out why! The irksome Internet Troll may be to blame.

Students are able to actively participate and help Hieronyma venture into the grid to resolve the technical difficulties.

“We enjoyed partnering with NTC and our local schools to provide this opportunity for students,” said Michael Avanzi, KU General Manager. “It’s a great way to encourage kids in the area to get interested in the energy field and to learn more about how we power our community.”

Along with the in-school assembly, the NTC provides digital materials to expand upon the educational content of the program. For more information about “Energy Endgame,” visit nationaltheatre.com.
